Myrick Crampton
Composer, arranger and bandleader
Myrick Crampton has lived all over
the U.S.A. - but he is originally
from Indiana. He started playing
the sax in 7th grade and decided to
stick with it when the school band
played his favorite song. A multi-
instrumentalist, Myrick plays sax,
flute, clarinet and piano. He's been
in Virginia for eleven years where
he earned a degree in jazz
performance and composition from
VCU. He studied with Skip Gails,
Doug Richards and Antonio Garcia.
Philip is from So. Illinois where he
was born into a musical family. He
started trombone in 5th grade and
music has taken him all over the
world. Philip plays all the low brass
instruments. His first gig was at age
14. He attended IWU and UNC. After
college, he toured and recorded
with Danny Davis and the Nashville
Brass for 17 years before moving to
New York. Philip has performed on
over twenty-five grammy-nominated
recordings, winning four. He moved
to Virginia five years ago after a
sucessful 24 year career in NYC.
Andy, a native of No. California, and
has lived in Virginia for twenty-eight
years. He started the trumpet in the
5th grade. His first gig was at age 17
playing clubs in San Francisco. Andy
is free lance commercial musician
and plays all styles of trumpet music.
Since moving to Virginia, Andy has
worked in a number of variety bands
and shows including Busch Gardens.
Andy studied with Jack Parker
(commercial musician) and Mike Vax
(Stan Kenton Orchestra). Andy is the
organizer and leader of The IN Crowd.
Ross is an institution in RVA. His
musical education goes back to the
days of Tantilla Gardens where his
Dad was the bouncer. Ross listened
to all of the great local bands live.
He picked the drums in 5th grade
and started gigging at age 15. Ross
attended WVU as a performance
major, After graduation, he toured
on the road three years. Next, he
moved to LA and worked as a
commercial musician. He returned to
RVA in 1990. Ross studied with
Dick Proctor and Freddie Gruber.
James Bjork
James is a Minnesota native who
moved to Virginia seven years
ago. He picked his first tenor sax
in the 6th grade and he stuck with
it. After pursuing a double major
in biology and music, he started
playing sax commercially. James
plays sax, flute and clarinet. He
writes music and works as a
session musician. James studied
sax with Ruben Haugen (Glenn
Miller Orchestra) and Brian
Grivna (Buddy Rich Big Band).
Hannon is from Newport News.
Born to a family of musicians, he
started playing euphonium in the
5th grade. He learned to play all
of the instruments in the school
band. He attended VSU on a full
scholarship. He toured with
Jazz-funk artist Roy Ayers.
Hannon then juggled a career as
a band director and studio
musician. He has recorded
for NBC, Nickelodeon, The Cosby
Show and The Queen Latifah Show.

Ross Riddell
Bruce Sullivan is a veteran band
leader and sideman in the RVA music
scene. He plays piano, organ, and
synthesizer, as well as sings. Bruce
has performed around the world in
twenty different countries. He
serves as the accompaniest for RVA
vocalist Desiree Roots, and fronts
his own band Rosetta Stone. Bruce
has performed for President Reagan,
and with the Smothers Brothers,
and Rita Coolidge.
Sara (pronounced Sah-rah) was born
in Darlington, England.Her family
moved here when she was young and
she grew up in Chester, VA. Sara
comes from a family of musicians,
actors, dancers, producers and writers.
She started singing at age 3 and by 16
she was singing and dancing
professionaly in musical theater. Sara
has performed with the Richmond
Symphony, the Continentals Big Band,
ten years with King Edward and
the BD's, and currently sings with
the Reflections Big Band.
